Maria receives L'Oréal-UNESCO Scholarship
Apr 14, 2021Maria Górna received the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Scholarship in the 20th edition of the L’Oréal Polska Dla Kobiet i Nauki Programme, awarded by L’Oréal Poland in partnership with the Polish UNESCO Committee, Polish Academy of Sciences, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, Poland. The six laureates of the 2020 competition were announced at the gala award ceremony online on April 14th.
Maria's research towards the habilitation thesis "Structure-function studies of proteins for improved treatment and diagnostics of infectious and inflammatory diseases" aims at achieving better understanding, diagnosis and therapies of selected infectious diseases or autoimmune disorders. Her research regards a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from the role and application of antiviral proteins, through the improvement of detection and sequencing of pathogens, to the development of new types of antibiotics.
