Navid Bakshi, M.Sc.
PhD student
I was born and raised in the beautiful valley of Kashmir in South Asia. I completed my BS and MS degrees in Biotechnology from the University of Kashmir.
My interest lies in proteins, especially their structure and how their interactions form marvelous, robust networks in living beings. This curiosity has led me to pursue a research career in Protein Biology.
For my Master’s thesis project, I moved to IISc, Bangalore, India. My project involved developing a novel epitope mapping method using scanning mutagenesis approaches.
Afterwards, I worked briefly in the Structural and Molecular Biology Lab at IISER-Trivandrum, India, where my research focused on elucidating the biophysical and biochemical insights of various proteins involved in transcription termination.
I joined the Go!RNA Lab in October 2024, where I work with Dr. Katarzyna Bandyra. My work aims to understand the structural and mechanistic basis of RNA transport to and from mitochondria.
Outside of science, I like to read history, politics and poetry.
