Jakub Kowalski, M.Sc.
PhD student
I’m a graduate of the University of Warsaw, where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Master’s degree in Radiogenomics. In the years 2020-2022 I was a member of the Laboratory of Organic Nanomaterials and Biomolecules, where under the supervision of Wiktor Lewandowski, Ph.D. I synthesized and functionalized anisotropic nanoparticles, which were further utilized in the development of diagnostic tools.
During COVID-19 pandemic I was working as a Laboratory Technician at Cellis Laboratorium, where I analyzed genetic material for SARS-CoV-2 virus detection. From June 2022 up to September 2023 I worked as an Associate Researcher in Biosens Labs, where I analyzed protein-protein interaction and developed novel genetic and immune assay tests.
Science is one of my greatest passions which is why I was delighted to work as an Explainer at the Copernicus Science Center in the years 2021-2022. My scientific interests are protein functions and structures, protein-RNA interactions and applications of nanotechnology, especially gold nanoparticles, in molecular diagnostic as well as drug development.
