MCAA Polish Chapter celebrates first anniversary

Sep 14, 2017

In 2016, Maria Górna has co-founded the Polish Chapter of the Marie Curie Alumni Association. and served as the Chapter's first Chairwoman. MCAA is a non-profit society of over 10 000 members, offering career support to the community of 100 000 researchers who benefited from Maria Skłodowska-Curie Actions, funded by the European Commission.

The Chapter held its kick-off meeting in March 2017, and an annual gathering in Gdańsk on 10-12th of September (photo below). The event in Gdańsk was organized back-to-back with a "Bridging Science and Business" workshop and was attended by almost 50 MCAA members and external participants from Poland and other European countries. After a successful first year of the Polish Chapter, Maria has stepped down as the Chapter Chair, but will continue to support the organisation of events in Warsaw. The nearest Chapter activities will include the "Standing up for Science EU" workshop in celebration of Maria Skłodowska-Curie's 150th birthday!

As of September 2017, the Polish Chapter has gathered over 70 members from Poland and abroad and participated in multiple workshops and outreach events. If you are interested in contacting the Chapter, you can get in touch with us via email, Facebook or meet us at our local MCAA hangouts.
