Lab Olympics 2025
Jul 17, 2025Our new annual tradition has just started - the Lab Olympic Games!
We held a thrilling competition in 5 disciplines, testing the very lab skills each lab member needs to have:
- Falcon bowling
- Tip box racing
- Blind volume
- NaCl? More like NoScale
- The Mysterious eppendorf
We don't know how it happened but both PIs took the podium (haha). The Kuba's factor might be to blame (see Kuba for calculations). It might be because Maria smashed all the falcons (what a knockout!). Nonetheless, the most agile in tip box racing was Basia, our Engineering student (wow. we guess making her refill all these boxes in the lab has finally paid off). The PhD students Dawid and Navid ruled in the Mysterious eppendorf quiz, and Madhu in Blind volume pouring. Dawid has also been the most accurate with NoScale weighing, too bad he failed at Falcon bowling or he would have left the rest of us in the dust. Kasia won 1st place in the whole Games by doing great in both volume disciplines. Congratulations to all participants!
The after-game was a round of "Publish or Perish". Maria won the Most Sarcastic Reviewer 2 award (ekhm), Dawid was voted the Innovator, and Navid got the Almost-there prize.
Thank you for the fun event!
