Katarzyna receives L'Oréal-UNESCO Scholarship
Dec 1, 2022Katarzyna Bandyra received the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Scholarship in the 22nd edition of the L’Oréal Polska Dla Kobiet i Nauki Programme, awarded by L’Oréal Poland in partnership with the Polish UNESCO Committee, Polish Academy of Sciences, and the Ministry of Education and Science, Poland. The six laureates of the 2022 competition were announced on Nov 30th at the gala award ceremony at the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw as part of the Pasteur Conference.
Kasia's research towards the habilitation thesis aims at understanding of the role of a human enzyme, PNPase, in the mitochodnrial RNA metabolism. Her research might find a way of importing RNA into mitochondria, which would enable RNA-based or RNA-guided therapies to be applied also to mitochondrial diseases and interventions.
