Katarzyna awarded EMBO Installation Grant

Jan 19, 2022

Katarzyna Bandyra was awarded an EMBO Installation Grant from the prestigious European Molecular Biology Organization for her project #5035 "Towards understanding of the mitochondrial RNA transport and metabolism". This award includes 50000 EUR annual funding over 3 to 5 years and many benefits of the membership in the EMBO Young Investigator Network. This year, 6 EMBO Installation Grantees were selected globally, including 2 in Poland.

Katarzyna joined our group in September 2021 as an independent Research Fellow and currently leads her own project team. She received a Widening Fellowship in Horizon 2020 MSCA programme and is the Principal Investigator in SONATA and POLS projects funded by the National Science Centre Poland and the Norway Grants.

Kasia's current research regards the putative RNA chaperone role of human PNPase in the mitochondrial RNA metabolism, with implications on future RNA-based therapies of mitochondrial diseases.

Heartfelt congratulations to Kasia on her EMBO Installation Grant award!
